Jamie Lyall Appointed to Cardiff’s CJCH Solicitors

Jamie Lyall, An international mental health legal expert with over a decade of experience championing human rights, has been appointed to a leading Cardiff legal firm.

Jamie Lyall, who has worked in legal roles from London to Thailand, has joined CJCH Solicitors in the Mental Health Law and Court of Protection Team.

The 34-year-old was appointed to the role at the award-winning firm after gaining experience as a paralegal in Mental Health and Criminal Litigation Law at Norman H Barnett and Co Solicitors in the capital.

Jamie Lyall - CJCH SolicitorsDuring his time at the firm, he advised numerous clients detained under the Mental Health Act, and represented clients with a range of mental health disorders, including paranoid schizophrenia, personality disorders, and learning disabilities.

Before this he worked in Thailand for three years, first for the Royal Thai Government, in Bangkok and Nonthaburi, as a translator and linguistic advisor, and for the British Embassy Bangkok as a consular assistant.

There he supported British Nationals in police stations, immigration detention and prison, using his language skills to assist and support them in dealings with the Royal Thai Police, Immigration Bureau and the Department of Corrections.

He is now hoping to use his international expertise to assist the Welsh firm, which has offices in Cardiff, Barry, Blackwood, Bridgend, Bristol, and London, and to make a “real impact” in the lives of people living with mental health issues.

He said:
